Heather drank quite excessively on a usual basis with her pals. One Tuesday after all of her classes were finished, she began thinking about the amount of alcohol she drank on a fairly regular basis and the excessive drinking of her friends. As a result of this, she courteously asked all of her pals the following question: "what do we really know about alcohol poisoning, binge drinking, alcohol abuse, and alcoholism? Stated differently, how much alcoholism and alcohol abuse information do we truly know? For our age, we certainly drink quite a bit and I am really starting to wonder if all of us are headed for a life filled with alcohol-associated difficulties when we become older.

I believe that we need to go on the Internet and learn all we can about alcohol abuse, alcoholism, binge drinking, and alcohol poisoning. And then if we have any questions that we really do not comprehend after we finish our web research, we can go to the student health center at the college and ask Nurse Sydney to help us understand what we do not know.

It should not come as a complete shock that what Heather said would cause a heated discussion. As a case in point, her best friend since elementary school, Yasmin, articulated that they are too young and too healthy to be concerned about excessive and irresponsible drinking. Another drinking buddy named William figured that since most adolescents drink there is no good reason why they should be any different. Another drinking pal named Aimee stated that all she wants to do is to have fun drinking with her buddies. And still another friend named Dane in truth agreed with Heather mainly because his parents were both alcohol abusers and both of his parents had a history of alcohol related problems.

Heather openly stated to her friends that she comprehended everything that they had said but that getting involved in abusive and unhealthy drinking at such a young age in truth cannot be very healthy or something that contributes toward establishing a meaningful life. When a few of her friends asked what kind of alcohol problems Heather was referring to, Heather stated the following: alcohol-related diseases such as cirrhosis of the liver, heart disease, and cancer, and other alcohol-related problems like alcoholism, alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities, and alcohol poisoning (which can be fatal in some instances).

When Heather then articulated that irresponsible and hazardous drinking often results in school, relationship, financial, and legal problems, some of her drinking friends finally started to understand how extensive and how damaging irresponsible and hazardous drinking can be. Indeed, some of her buddies became more open and started to reveal how these alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse effects had affected their parents and some of their friends.

After going over some of the alcoholism and alcohol abuse problems that are related to irresponsible drinking, the majority of her drinking pals liked the idea about getting information online. They were, however, uneasy about discussing their drinking situations with anyone at school. As Heather reflected on this she whispered to herself, "at least they are open to finding out more about their drinking behavior. This is a good start."
