My sister and I planned a baby shower for one of our nieces. We made the decision to have it in the fellowship part of the local church due to the fact that it was a large guest list. We had the baby shower party on a Saturday afternoon. We did not want to get too intricate with the baby shower decorations due to the fact that we needed to have the complete area cleaned out instantly after the party. We did want to have just a few decorations for baby shower to give the room a festive feel. There is a cradle that's passed to each new mother for the baby to sleep in for the first four to six weeks. This bassinet was my mother's. We determined that we would use the cradle as the center of our baby shower party decorations.
The fellowship section has large round tables that seat ten individuals. We moved one table off on its own to be the gift table. We covered this table with a smooth pink table-cloth; our niece knows she is having a girl. We set the cradle in the center of the table. We decided to use our presents for the baby shower decorations. I had purchased a pink and white baby blanket, which we draped over the side of the cradle. We pinned some rattles and other baby toys to the blanket with diaper pins. We then showed the little outfits that my sister had bought. We finished the baby shower decorations for the gift table by placing a big teddy bear into the bassinet. It is so much fun to decorating for a baby shower!
For the food service table we had an arrangement of fresh cut flowers from the community florist. She used soft pink carnations, baby's breathe and daisies for the collection. We determined that no other baby shower party decorations needed to be put on this table. We did have pink napkins that we put on this table, along with a cake that was festooned with a stork holding a little doll in a pink frosting blanket.
We had also ordered a corsage for our niece and one for every of the new grandmas to be. We felt that the room looked very nice and we would not have to spend a great deal of time cleaning up baby shower decorations due to the fact that they would all be sent home as gifts to our niece.
We had a great turn out for the baby shower party. My niece got several very nice presents. She was glad that we had the baby shower party in a space that was not cramped. As she progresses with the maternity she is feeling more claustrophobic. Within 30 moments after the shower was over the fellowship area was cleaned up and we were going home.
