Do Quests!
Some people believe that doing quests while powerleveling is just a waste of time. This is simply untrue! You do need to take some quests however. Don't worry, it's not difficult to determine which of them you should take. Any quest which has you killing creatures-do it. You will be getting xp just for killing the creatures (and while you are there you could grind for a while) and you'll get a lot more xp once you complete the quest. Also, any quests which are traveling quests when you're already headed that way. Do not take any quest that does not give xp. That will waste your time, your goal is to get as much xp as fast as you can.
Study About Talent Points
Though this may look like a waste of time to some of you, one of the best things you could do to speed up your powerleveling is to research talent trees. It sounds so boring! But it's really not. Find some WOW forum boards and you'll be certain to find discussions on talent points.
